For the second consecutive season, the Lady Knights get the most selections to the team. Seven Currituck players made the list, two more than last year.

It’s also another year that the school boasts the Area Player of the Year.

After those seven, John A. Holmes has second-most honorees with three. Camden and Northeastern both have two, while Pasquotank gets a nod as well.

Here’s more on the All-Area team:

Jordan Bundy, Camden, S, Sr.: Bundy was named to the all-conference team after leading the Lady Bruins in scoring this season.

Drew Harnly, Camden, D, Sr.: Harnly was named as the team MVP and also made the all-conference team. As a defender, she stopped more than 200 of the opponent’s attacks this season.

Cara Spry, Currituck, F, So.: After 23 goals and 15 assists in her freshman season with Currituck, the sophomore did much of the same on the attack this year because of her ability to see the field and create plenty of scoring opportunities.

Sarah Dover, Currituck, M, Sr.: Last Year’s Area Player of the Year led this year’s Lady Knights with 27 goals. Including assists, she contributed to a third of the goals Currituck scored in 2018.

Kelleher, Currituck, M, Sr.: Area Player of the Year.

Sydney Cowan, Currituck, M, Jr.: Cowan made an impact in transitioning from defense to attack for the Lady Knights and was one of the team’s most physical players throughout the year.

Kendal Cahill, Currituck, D, Jr.: Cahill was a key member of the Currituck defense that allowed only 24 goals in 23 games.

Anna Poston, Currituck, GK, Sr.: Poston made a big impact in the net this season for the Lady Knights. The senior shut out 13 teams to go along with having a 0.85 goals against average.

Annie Ammons, Currituck, M, Jr.: Ammons was a set play and free kick specialist for Currituck this season. She scored a handful of goals off free kicks from at least 20 yards out.

Malorie Gonzalez, John A. Holmes, M, D, Jr.: Gonzalez was the second leading scorer for the Lady Aces with seven goals. She also led the team with 93 steals.

Jessica Copeland, John A. Holmes, F, M, Jr.: Copeland led John A. Holmes with nine goals and nine assists throughout the year.

Anna Bass, John A. Holmes, GK, Jr.: Bass returns to the All-Area team for the second year in a row as one of the best goaltenders in the area. With 168 saves in 20 games, her goals against average was 2.59.

Ellie Hornthal, Northeastern, D, Fr.: Hornthal made it the all-conference team for great defensive play in her first high school season.

Caroline Shubel, Northeastern, D, Sr.: Shubel ended her time at Northeastern with all-conference honors leading the team’s defensive effort.

Natalie Cranmer, Pasquotank, M, Sr.: With five goals and seven assists, Cranmer was the biggest contributor to the scoring for the Lady Panthers.
