Four Clams earn all-CPL honors

Four Edenton Steamers were named to the 2018 Coastal Plain League all-league teams.

The league made the announcement Thursday night.

Pitchers Jake Miller and Ben Anderson, both from Binghamton University, were named to the all-CPL first team.

Miller started nine games and posted a 5-2 record with a 3.16 ERA in 51 1/3 innings pitched.

Miller was a CPL All-Star team selection this summer.

Anderson sported an 0.91 ERA in 39 2/3 innings pitched for the Clams this summer.

Anderson posted 59 strikeouts.

Rich Ciufo, from Brown University, and Zane Harris, from Wright State University, were selected to the all-CPL second team.

Ciufo was named to the CPL Select team that faced the USA Collegiate National baseball team in June.

The infielder was also selected to the CPL All-Star team.

He played in 46 games for the Clams and posted a .271 batting average with five home runs, 22 RBI, scored 30 runs and stole five bases.

Ciufo had a .937 fielding percentage.

Harris, also a CPL All-Star selection, boasted at .315 batting average in with eight home runs, 32 RBI with 27 runs.

Harris posted a .968 field percentage in the infield.

The Steamers posted a 24-26 overall record and missed out on a berth into the Petitt Cup Playoffs this summer.
