GATESVILLE — The Northeastern boys soccer team defeated Gates 4-1 Monday at Gates County High School.
Noah Hurdle, Sim Hurdle, Michael Carter, and Eddie Garcia each notched a goal for NHS (3-1-0).
Justino Pena had an assist and Christian Wolfen had 10 saves in goal.
Gates drops to 0-3-0 on the season.
Currituck 3, Camden 0: The Knights (1-2-1) secured their first win of the season at home Monday evening.
Jadon Melendez was Currituck’s outstanding defender, while Hunter Goins and Shane Farr generated scoring opportunities.
Camden (1-2-2) travels to Cape Hatteras for a match Thursday.
John A. Holmes 2, Bear Grass Charter 0: The Aces (3-2-0) defeated the Bears (1-3-0) at home on Monday evening.
Edenton rested three normal starters in the match. The Aces controlled the majority of possession.
Edenton hosts Riverside today.
Northeastern def. Gates 25-13, 25-19, 25-17: The Northeastern volleyball team defeated Gates Monday evening at home.
Tiara Holley got Northeastern (1-4) off to a good start in the first set. She had six aces and a couple of big kills.
Millicent Ott also posted six aces in that first set as well.
Julianna Connor and Melissa Harris also had a good serving night and came up with some great digs and passes for the Lady Eagles.
“I’m very proud of my girls playing hard and taking care of business,” Northeastern coach Kandis Rainey said.
NHS travels to Camden for a match today.
John A. Holmes def. Bertie 25-14, 25-14, 25-21: The Lady Aces (2-5) earned the win at Bertie Monday.
Charity Stallings had nine assists, two kills, four digs and eight aces, while Maggie Bunch and TaMesha Manning had three kills each for Edenton.
