BARCO — During halftime of Currituck County High School’s home football game against Hickory Thursday, Currituck County Schools recognized the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office and its partnership with the school system.

Thursday’s game was law enforcement appreciation night at the game.

Currituck County Sheriff Matt Beickert was presented a plaque by Currituck County High School principal Brian Matney.

Currituck County Schools Superintendent Mark Stefanik and Currituck Sheriff’s chief deputy Jeff Walker also took part in the ceremony.

“It means a lot to us. It’s very important,” Beickert said of the ceremony. “We’ve had a close relationship for years and it just shows that we are going to continue this close relationship with the high school, the middle schools and the elementary schools. We are here to support our schools and support our youth.”
