GOLDSBORO — Currituck’s Bailee Twiford shot a 66 to win the 2018 North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 1A/2A East Regional Girls Golf tournament Monday.

The one-day tournament was held at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course.

Twiford, a senior, edged out First Flight’s Katherine Schuster, who posted a 67.

By winning the regional, Twiford qualifies to the NCHSAA 1A/2A state championship tournament at Foxfire Golf and Resort on Monday, Oct. 22 through Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Schuster also qualified to the state championship tournament.

Roanoke Rapids’ Maci Beaver was third with a 78, Georgia Dawson of West Craven was fourth with a 79 and Raleigh Charter’s Grace Greene took fifth with an 80.

Raleigh Charter posted a team score of 255 to win the team championship.

Carrboro was second with a 294 and North Johnston took third with a 297.
