BARCO — The Currituck wrestling team won three matches at a quad at Currituck Tuesday.

The Knights defeated Northeastern Coastal Conference rival Pasquotank 57-18, Manteo 63-6 and John A. Holmes 57-12.

Currituck’s Trent Walker won three matches at 160 pounds.

That included a 3-1 decision against Pasquotank’s Thong Tran, a 7-1 decision against Manteo’s William Pendelton and a 5-0 decision against Edenton’s Dezmontre Gilliam.

Currituck’s Michael Culpepper also secured three wins at 145 pounds.

Pasquotank tied Edenton 36-36 and Manteo 27-27.

Tran earned wins by forfeit against Edenton and by a 9-5 decision against Manteo’s Pendelton.

The Aces defeated Albemarle Athletic Conference rival Manteo 54-15.

Riddick White (113), Nathan Hansley (145) and Dawson Cullipher (195) won their matches by pin.

Tri-Match at Northeastern: Northeastern hosted NCC foe First Flight and Northampton County Tuesday.

The Eagles defeated First Flight 30-27 and Northampton 30-24.

Jonathan Ward (138 pounds), Bryan Woody (145), Tristen Barr (195) and Raven Atkins (220) were winners against First Flight.

Ward, Woody, Atkins and Barr secured wins against Northampton.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Albemarle School 87, Pungo Christian 68: The Albemarle School boys basketball team won their conference opener against Pungo Christian School Tuesday night.

The Colts were led by Logan Dunn with 24 points, Brandon Jackson had 21 points and Avery Krywanczyk had 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The Colts were also helped by Brandon Gilliam with eight points, eight rebounds and a team leading seven steals.

Albemarle School’s next game is Friday at Northeast Academy.

Word of God Christian 94, First Flight 61: The Nighthawks (1-2) fell to the Holy Rams in Raleigh Friday.

First Flight’s Reese Jones scored a game-high 27 points, while Dylan Blake added 18 points.

Max Farthing scored 25 points for Word of God.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Manteo 46, Currituck 42: The Lady Knights (2-2) lost to rival Manteo (2-0) at Manteo Tuesday night.

Trinity Evans scored a game-high 15 points, while Tyana Peebles followed with 12 points for Currituck.

Skylar Williamson led the Lady Redskins with 13 points with Camryn Creef adding 10 points in the win.

ACES SEND OFF

The Edenton Aces booster club is promoting a send off for Aces football team Friday afternoon.

The club encourages all of Chowan County to come out, dressed in blue and gold bringing noise makers, and signs, to send the team off to Tarboro.

Buses will leave John A. Holmes High School at 4:30 p.m., travel down Broad Street, turn right onto Queen Street and head out of town.

The Aces will face the Vikings in the NCHSAA 1AA East Regional Final at Tarboro High School Friday at 7:30 p.m.
