The NCHSAA football 2A state championship game between Northeastern and Reidsville Saturday will not be aired in Pasquotank County or in the region via over-the-air, cable or by satellite operators on WTVZ channel 33.

Sinclair Broadcast Group holds the broadcasting rights to the NCHSAA state championships in football along with boys and girls basketball.

WTVZ 33, which is based in Norfolk, Virginia, is the closest Sinclair owned television station to Elizabeth City and most of northeast North Carolina.

A spokesperson from the NCHSAA emailed to the Daily Advance Thursday afternoon: “Unfortunately, Sinclair was not able to secure clearance in the Norfolk market this year.

The games will be available for free on an online stream on WCTI’s (Channel 12 in Greenville/New Bern) website.

The NFHS Network will be streaming the games as well. It costs $9.95 per month to watch any live content on the NFHS Network. They will have every game available through that platform this year and other championships throughout the year.”

WTVZ is on Spectrum Cable in Pasquotank and Dare counties along with Mediacom Cable in Camden, Chowan, Currituck and Perquimans counties.

Satellite operators Direct TV and Dish Network both carry WTVZ in the region.
