Northeastern High School is set to host the River City Invitational wrestling tournament today at its gym.

The competition is set to begin at 9 a.m.

More than 15 teams from North Carolina and Virginia are expected to compete in the tournament.

The majority of the programs from Virginia that are expected to participate at the invitational are from the Hampton Roads section of the commonwealth.

Virginia’s New Kent High School won last season’s team championship.

Along with Northeastern, Currituck, John A. Holmes and Pasquotank are expected to take part in the tournament.

At last year’s tournament, all four area schools placed in the top 10 in the team competition.
