MURFREESBORO — The Elizabeth City State women's basketball team defeated Chowan 58-47 Saturday afternoon at Chowan University.
Naterria Luster led ECSU in the CIAA game with 18 points, six rebounds and three steals, Jalyn Brown followed with 17 points and Asia Deal posted 11 points four assists, four rebounds and three steals.
ECSU (12-7, 5-4 CIAA) secured the win despite shooting a sub par 32.3 percent from the field.
Chowan (10-7, 6-2 CIAA) also struggled shooting from the field as it made just 30.9 percent of its shots.
Mariah Coker led Chowan with 13 points and three steals.
Warren Wilson 91, Mid-Atlantic Christian 35: The Lady Mustangs (3-9, 0-3 EMAC) lost the conference game at home Friday night.
Warren Wilson (7-11, 2-1 EMAC) faces Apprentice School today.
MACU's game against Central Penn scheduled for Saturday afternoon was postponed.
Chowan 64, Elizabeth City State 55: The Vikings (10-9, 6-2 CIAA) lost the CIAA Northern Division game at Chowan Saturday afternoon.
ECSU led 36-32 at halftime, but was outscored 32-19 in the final 20 minutes.
John Maynor led ECSU with 13 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Maynor was the only player for ECSU to score 10 or more points in the game.
Chowan (11-4, 4-3 CIAA) had four players score 10 or more points in the game as Michael Kelly and Timothy Bing scored 16 points each.
Kelly added 10 rebounds.
Gus Rowland followed with 11 points and six assists, while Demetrius Sanders scored 10 points in the win.
The Hawks shot an efficient 48 percent (24-of-50) from the field.
