HERTFORD — The Perquimans girls’ basketball team defeated Manteo 45-34 Tuesday at Perquimans County High School.
The Lady Pirates (12-4, 2-1 Albemarle Athletic Conference) were paced by Asha Elliott who scored 16 points with six rebounds, five steals and four assists, Jada Modlin followed with 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal, while McKayle Knapp posted 11 points, seven rebounds five steals and four assists in the win.
Manteo falls to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
John A. Holmes, 50 Gates 38: Jamillian Johnson scored 19 points with five rebounds, 10 steals and four assists in the league win for Edenton (10-5, 2-1 AAC) Tuesday.
Anna Bass followed with 12 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Gates falls to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
Victory Christian 38, New Life 0: Victory secured the win at home Tuesday.
Rachel Cote led Victory Christian with 11 points, two rebounds and two steals, Morgan Brock had six rebounds three assists a steal and eight points and Autumn Cartwright had seven rebounds and six points.
Amy Wilkins added three steals, a rebound and six points.
Pungo Christian Academy 55, Albemarle School 14: The Lady Colts (2-15, 0-10 Tarheel Independent Conference) lost the league game at Pungo Tuesday.
Brooke Perry led Albemarle School with seven points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Pungo improves to 15-3 overall and 8-1 in the conference.
First Flight 63, Pasquotank 52: The Lady Panthers (3-10, 0-3 Northeastern Coastal Conference) lost the league game at First Flight Tuesday.
First Flight improves to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Hertford County 41, Currituck 40: The Lady Bears (7-8, 3-0 NCC) edged Currituck (7-8, 1-2 NCC) at Hertford County Tuesday.
John A. Holmes 70, Gates 50: The Aces (13-2, 2-1 Albemarle Athletic Conference) secured the win at home Tuesday.
Mitjonta Stanley scored 18 points with five assists and four steals, Zion Boston followed with 12 points, seven rebounds, Antuan Sharpe had 11 points and six assists and Keenan Downing posted 10 points and eight rebounds.
Edenton travels to Manteo for a game Friday.
Manteo 68, Perquimans 62: The Pirates (7-10, 0-3 AAC) lost the league game at home Tuesday.
Manteo improves to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the league.
First Flight 80, Pasquotank 58: The Panthers (3-11, 0-3 Northeastern Coastal Conference) lost the league game at home Tuesday.
Dylan Blake and Reese Jones led First Flight (10-7, 2-1 NCC) with 18 points each, Jordan High followed with 17 points and Grayson Bell posted 10 points in the win.
Hertford County 82, Currituck 50: The Knights (7-9, 0-3 NCC) lost the road game at Hertford County (9-7, 3-0 NCC) Tuesday.
Pungo Christian Academy 71, Albemarle School 55: The Colts (11-7, 6-4 Tarheel Independent Conference) lost the conference game at Pungo Tuesday.
The Raiders improve to 5-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
NHS vs. Pasquotank Hoops
The Northeastern vs. Pasquotank boys and girls basketball games scheduled for Friday night will be played at Pasquotank County High School and not Elizabeth City State.
Friday’s games will be the first time since 2016 that the games will not be held at ECSU.
In 2016, winter weather forced the second game of the season series to be played at Pasquotank a day later on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The Currituck wrestling team won two dual matches at the Beach Championships Tuesday at Currituck County High School.
Currituck defeated First Flight 65-16 and Manteo 70-12.
Samuel Hodge, Noah Walker, Robbie Sanders, Cole Hampton, Michael Culpepper, Trent Walker, Mark Dutton, Aiden Herring, Shawn Maynard, Keegan Lassiter, Andrew Noser, Hunter Forehand, Tyler Sunderlin and Chase Elliott were winners for Currituck.
