HERTFORD — The Perquimans baseball team defeated Northeastern 7-5 Tuesday evening at Perquimans County High School.
Michael Brasseur led Perquimans (2-0) with a double and three RBI, Tyler Futrell had a hit with two RBI, Braden Craddock had a hit with a RBI, while Spencer Loftis went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the non-conference matchup.
Casey Redd, Andrew Cartwright, Colin Riddick and Noah Hurdle all posted a hit in the game for Northeastern (1-1).
Riddick’s hit was a double.
John A. Holmes 4, Currituck 3: The Aces (2-0) held on for the non-conference win against the Knights (0-2) at Hicks Field in Edenton Tuesday.
Ryan White led Edenton with a double and three RBI, while Chace Kelly had a hit with a run scored.
Kelly also went four innings on the mound and posted seven strikeouts and gave up a walk and four hits for the win.
Lincoln Ellis registered an RBI in the win.
Cole Bates, Jackson Gay each registered an RBI for the Knights.
Will Harrell went 3-for-3 with a double, while Austin Pace went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Perquimans 10, Northeastern 0: The Lady Pirates (2-0) secured the non-conference win at home Tuesday.
Northeastern (0-2) faces Edenton Friday.
Currituck 14, John A. Holmes 6: The Lady Knights (1-0) opened their season with a win at John A. Holmes (0-1) Tuesday.
Currituck’s Faith Hughes went 2-for-3 with a double a home run, two runs scored and two RBI, Elizabeth Hewitt went 2-for-3 with a run scored two doubles and four RBI in the win.
Layla Cartwright had two RBI, while Michelle Mixon posted an RBI
Kylee Schojan was credited with three RBI, while Michelle Mixon posted an RBI.
Cartwright pitched five innings with seven strikeouts and five walks with a run to secure the win in the circle.
Edenton’s Kristen Williams went 2-for-4 with three RBI, Jhasi Gilliam went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBI, while Charity Stallings had a hit with an RBI.
Washington 7, Currituck 2: The Knights (0-2) lost the non-conference match at Washington High School Tuesday.
Currituck’s Kaleb Kight won his No. 1 singles match with a 6-4, 6-0 result against Tim Anglim, while Currituck’s No. 1 doubles team of Kight and Connor Goins defeated Washington’s Anglim and Allen Crisp 8-5.
Washington improves to 2-1 on the season.
