PITTSBURG, KAN. — A former Northeastern High School track and field standout earned All-American status at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field championships at Pittsburg State University Saturday.

Tedric Shannon, who is a member of the Mount Olive track and field team, was one of the four runners representing Mount Olive in the 4x400 meter relay.

Shannon, a junior, along with teammates Arne Leppelsack, Johnny Middlebrooks and Richard Fisher, finished in fourth place in the event with a time of three minutes, 10.23 seconds.

The finish secured the quartet All-American status for the indoor season.

Texas A&M Commerce won the championship with a time of 3:08.34.

Shannon helped Northeastern win indoor track and field state championships in the 4x400 meter relay in 2014 and 2016.


The Carolina Basketball Academy program won the USA National Prep High School Basketball Championship in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina March 2.

The CBA has been based at Mid-Atlantic Christian in Elizabeth City since August.
