EDENTON — The summer of 2019 will be the final year of Coastal Plain League baseball in Edenton.

The Edenton Steamers confirmed Wednesday that the franchise is working with a potential buyer to sell the CPL franchise.

There are plans for a new version of the Edenton Steamers to play at Hicks Field during the summer of 2020.

The current CPL was formed in 1997.

The Steamers celebrated their 20th season as a member of the league during the 2017 season.
