Athletes from Currituck, Pasquotank and Northeastern will take part in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 2A track and field state championship meet today at North Carolina A&T State in Greensboro.

Pasquotank will be represented by Tyaunna McCoy (girls' 400 meters), Destine Moore (girls' triple jump), Samuel Bingham (boys' 100 meters) and Patrick Riddick (boys' discus).

Northeastern will be represented by Kiara Williams (girls' 200 meters), Candace Barclift (girls' 100 meter hurdles), the girls' 4x100 meter relay team of Williams, Passion Winslow, Kristiana Kuykendall and Tyquaisha Cousette, the girls' 4x200 meter relay team of Cousette, Williams, Winslow and Arianna Sylvester, Jessica Jenkins (girls' high jump), Dasia Phillips (girls' shot put), Aaron Harris (boys' 100 meters), the boys' 4x100 meter relay team of Harris, Avion Price, Juan Riddick and Kentron King, the boys' 4x200 meter relay of King, Riddick, Robert Ferguson and Jordan Griffin, Wonderful Banks (boys' high jump and triple jump) and Jordan Jones (boys' high jump).

Currituck will be represented by Hailee Reinke (girls' 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters), the girls' 4x400 meter relay, the girls' 4x800 meter relay, Ashley Lindsey (girls' shot put) and Destiny Ferebee (girls' discus).


SOFTBALL REGISTRATION: Registration for Camden Parks & Rec Women’s Slow Pitch League is now underway. The league begins in the middle of June and will continue through August. Contact: 338-1919 Ext. 239.

BASKETBALL All-Star Game: Columbia High School will host the Down East All Star Game Saturday, May 18.

Admission is $1 for age 13 and under and $4 for age 14 and over.

Gates open at noon. The day will include boys and girls high school games, a 3-points shooting contest and a dunking contest.

Athletes from fourteen high schools are expected to participate.

Bruins Basketball Camp: The 23rd Annual Bruin Basketball Camp will be held June 17-20.

Camp times are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily at Camden County High School.

Boys and girls going into 4th to 9th grade are eligible to attend. Brochures are available at all four Camden County Schools.

Registration will take place Monday, June 17th in the gym lobby at the High School starting at 8 a.m.

Cost is $60.

Aces Basketball Camp: The John A. Holmes High School basketball program will host the Aces Kids Basketball camp June 24-28 at the old D.F. Walker gym from 9 a.m. to noon.

Boys and girls rising third grade to rising ninth grade are welcomed to attend.

Baskets will be lowered and skill level sessions will be held.

Registration fee is $50.
