Athletes vie for medals at NCHSAA 1A track and field state championship meet

Athletes from Camden, John A. Holmes and Perquimans will compete for medals at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 1A track and field state championship meet today at North Carolina A&T State in Greensboro.

The meet begins at 10 a.m.

Perquimans will be represented by Ceo Riddick (110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles).

Riddick will also compete as a member of the Pirates’ 4x400 meter relay team that also includes Gabreal Tripp, Joseph Askew and Quindall Freeman.

Camden will be represented by Keeley Williams and Brookelyn Johnson in the girls’ 400 meters, Williams in the girls’ 800 meters, Hannah Healy in the girls’ 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters and Kennedy Lighty in the girls’ shot put.

The Lady Bruins’ 4x400 meter relay team of Johnson, Williams, Maleah Lassiter and Abigail Jones along with the 4x800 meter relay team of Healy, Johnson, Williams and Cadence Langton will compete at the state meet.

The Camden boys’ track and field team will be represented by Micah Tucker in the boys’ high jump and William Royal in the boys’ discus.

Edenton will be represented at the meet by its boys’ 4x200 meter team of Josiah Carter, Zakeem Brooks, Kentreaz Coston and Aaron Pryce, its boys’ 4x100 meter relay team of Brooks, Coston, Pryce and Nakevin Hill, its girls’ 4x200 meter relay team of Zacchaeu Grissom, Kayla Williams, Keynaria Bazemore and Precious Bond, Pryce and Brooks in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, Nakevin Hill in the boys’ long jump, Dymon Rankins in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Coston and Hill in the boys’ 100 meters and LeAsia Stanley in the girls’ shot put.
