The Camden softball team continues its quest for a state championship as the Bruins will host Princeton in Game 1 of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 1A East Regional Final series today at 6 p.m.

As the No. 1 seed in the region, Camden holds home field advantage in the best-of-three series.

Game 2 of the series will be held Thursday at Princeton High School at 6 p.m.

If Game 3 is needed, Camden will host the series-deciding contest Friday at 6 p.m.

Camden is playing in the regional final series for the second consecutive season.

Last season, Camden was swept by Louisburg.

In Game 1 of the series last season, Louisburg won 2-1 on a walk-off solo home run in the 13th inning.

Louisburg pitcher Laine Barefoot dominated Game 2 as the Warriors defeated Camden 4-0.

Camden (24-1), the Albemarle Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion, defeated Vance Charter School 3-2 in the fourth round of the state playoffs Friday.

The Bruins bring a 13-game winning streak into the regional final series.

Princeton (14-2), the No. 2 seed in the East Regional, won the Carolina Conference this season.

The Bulldogs defeated Louisburg 2-0 in their fourth round game Thursday.
