Northeastern quartet to compete at N.C. New Balance Nationals Outdoor Track and Field meet

A group of Northeastern High School athletes are scheduled to compete in the North Carolina New Balance Nationals Outdoor Track and Field meet.

The four-day competition will be held at North Carolina A&T State University’s Irwin Belk Track and Field Stadium in Greensboro.

Northeastern’s Jordan Jones, Aaron Harris, Avion Price and Juan Riddick will compete as a part of the NC Blazers track club team.

Jones, Price, Harris and Riddick will compete in the boys’ 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay competitions Saturday.

Jones will also compete in the freshman high jump competition today.

Jones, who completed his freshman season this spring, placed third in the high jump at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 2A state championship meet in the event May 17.

The Northeastern 4x200 meter relay team of Price, Kentron King, Jones and Riddick won a NCHSAA Class 2A state championship in the event, while the Eagles’ 4x100 meter relay team of Price, King, Riddick and Harris finished second in the event at the NCHSAA meet.

The competition will also feature athletes from Washington D.C., Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Florida.
