EDENTON — Edenton Post 40 scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning as it defeated Ahoskie Post 102 by an 11-4 score in seven innings Tuesday night at Hicks Field.

During the nine-run inning, Edenton Post 40 secured a RBI hit from Chace Kelly, a two-run single from Ryan White, a RBI triple from Chowan University's Justin Winslow, a RBI double from Lincoln Ellis and RBI hits by Hunter Kinion and Davis Halstead.

Edenton also scored on a bases loaded walk.

Edenton Post 40 added two runs in the fourth for an 11-0 lead.

Pitcher Michael Allen, from Lenoir-Rhyne University, got the start for Edenton Post 40 and went four innings and did not give up a run.

Allen previously pitched at Manteo High School.

Ahoskie Post 102, which also featured high school players from Pasquotank and Camden, scored four runs in the top of the fifth to extend the game.

Chowan University's Dallas Trevena, who played his high school baseball at Camden, suited up for Ahoskie Post 102.

Kelly pitched the sixth and seven innings for Edenton Post 40 to close out the game.

Tuesday's game was Edenton Post 40's only scheduled home game during the 2019 American Legion regular season.
