Showers and thunderstorms dumped substantial amounts of rain on Elizabeth City’s three-eighths mile motor speedway on Friday, forcing officials to cancel what was scheduled to be the seventh race of the season on Biggs Cadillac Buick GMC night.
The event was called off shortly before 6 p.m. after rainwater flooded the racing surface.
A new date for the special 40-lap Rapid Ron’s Racing Sportsman event that was slotted to take place will be announced soon.
The upcoming Friday is a scheduled night off to allow competitors and teams to enjoy Independence Day weekend.
Racing resumes on Friday, July 12 on J2 Race Engines night with a special 40-lap Little Caesars Super Streets event with $500 being awarded for first place.
Additionally, the Budweiser All-Star Late Models, Rapid Ron’s Racing Sportsman and Biggs Cadillac Buick GMC Stock Fours will compete.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and the action kicks off at 8 p.m.
Tickets will be available for purchase in person.
