PINEHURST — Katherine Schuster won the 41st North and South Junior Girls’ Golf Championship Wednesday at Pinehurst No. 2.

Schuster, a rising junior at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills, shot 2-over-par 74 during the third and final round of the tournament.

Schuster finished the tournament at 1-over-par 217 to best Karissa Kilby of Honolulu by two shots.

Schuster entered the final round with a one-shot lead after shooting 3-under-par 69 during Tuesday’s second round.

The win adds to her successful 2019 amateur season.

Schuster won the 23rd Carolinas Golf Association North Carolina Junior Girls’ championship at the Wilson Country Club June 14.

Schuster is a two-time North Carolina High School Athletic Association Girls’ Golf Class 1A/2A individual state champion and was named a 2018 North Carolina Girls’ Golf first-team all-state team performer in January.
