Perquimans volleyball honored by AVCA

The 2018 Perquimans County High School volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on July 22.
The Lady Pirates earned the AVCA’s Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year.
According to the AVCA, the award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Perquimans was one of 444 high school girls’ volleyball teams from across the United States to earn the honor.
On the court, Perquimans had a 24-3 overall recored, won the Albemarle Athletic Conference regular-season championship and advanced to the fourth round of the NCHSAA Class 1A state playoffs last fall.
