EDENTON — John A. Holmes High School hosted a non-conference cross country meet at D.F. Walker School Wednesday afternoon.
Perquimans' Jayden White, a ninth grader, won the boys competition with a time of 19 minutes, 42 seconds.
Burke Huddleston of Lawrence Academy was second and Carter Hoggard also of Lawrence Academy was third.
Perquimans' Mason Byrum was fourth, while Edenton's Logan Garman was fifth.
The top 10 finishes also included Edenton's Arthur Schwarm (sixth), Blake Meadows (eighth) and Jacob Brooks (ninth) with Perquimans' Eli Gregory placing seventh.
Lawrence Academy's Walt Williams finished 10th.
In the girls' meet, Lawrence Academy's Clara Tate Foster won the competition with a time of 27:38.
Edenton had runners place in second, third and fourth place with Itary Lopez, Amanda Turner and Hannah Hoffman respectively.
Lawrence Academy earned fifth, sixth and seventh from Briauna Faulk, Isabelle Phelps and Zoe Patterson respectively.
Edenton's Carrie Jenkins placed eighth, while Perquimans' placed ninth and 10th with Meredith DeCastillia and Carissa Baker respectively.
John A. Holmes 2, Pasquotank 2: John A. Holmes and Pasquotank played to a tie Wednesday night at the Purser Soccer Complex in Edenton.
Jalen Haist scored both goals; one from an assist from Chaz Fitzgerald and one from the penalty spot for Pasquotank (1-0-1).
Pasquotank's Matthew Harrell had a great game in goal coming up with multiple big saves.
Edenton (0-0-1) faced Currituck Thursday night.
Chocowinity-Southside 9, Perquimans 1: The Pirates (0-2) lost the match at Perquimans Parks and Recreation soccer field in Hertford Wednesday.
Jairo Juarez and Victor Gonzalez both scored two goals, while Jaime Guzman and Johnathan Hernandez both had a goal with an assist in the win.
Pasquotank def. John A. Holmes: Pasquotank (1-1) won the non-conference match in three sets at John A. Holmes High School Wednesday night.
Edenton (1-1) returns to action Monday at Northeastern.
Pamlico County def. Perquimans 25-18, 25-16, 25-19: The Lady Pirates (1-1) lost the non-league match against the Hurricanes (1-1) at Pamlico County High School Wednesday.
