KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Kernersville police have seized nearly 1½ tons of marijuana found inside a warehouse.
Police Chief Scott Cunningham announced the seizure at a news conference on Thursday. Cunningham said officers seized the drugs Friday, along with other evidence, after receiving a tip that morning.
There have been no arrests in connection with the seizure.
Investigators found the warehouse and sent a K-9 unit to check the exterior. A different set of police dogs was used to find the drugs, which were hidden among the commercial products.
Cunningham didn't say where the warehouse was, but said it had been leased within the last several months. He said the marijuana was likely stored at the warehouse as part of a distribution system which would have shipped within a 200-mile radius around Kernersville.
