CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Three dozen buildings in uptown Charlotte will go dark this weekend for Earth Hour.
The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/Ytnsm7) the buildings will turn off their lights Saturday night as part of a global sustainability campaign.
All but the safety lights will be extinguished for an hour starting at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Charlotte's largest towers will participate, including Duke Energy Center, One Wells Fargo, Bank of America Corporate Center and the Hearst Tower.
Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte, major employers and uptown residential neighborhoods are all participating
