FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has issued warrants for a Fayetteville man who they say stole a physician's identity and used it to write prescriptions and operate a fake clinic.
The Fayetteville Observer reports (http://bit.ly/1lz7M07) warrants have been issued for 60-year-old Wright Gillies. The sheriff's office said he will face various charges, including practicing medicine without a license, identity theft of a physician and using the doctor's DEA prescription number.
An investigation began in November after authorities discovered Gillies was treating people and dispensing drugs without a license. Authorities allege that Gillies was giving out flu shots and treating young children.
Lawmen raided and shut down the RF Medical Clinic Wednesday afternoon.
