FAYETTEVILLE — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says a Fayetteville man who was the subject of a Silver Alert last week has been found dead.
The Fayetteville Observer reports a statement from the sheriff's office said the body of 56-year-old Archie "J.E." Lowery was found Monday not far from his home on the 3500 block of Seawell Street near Gillespie Street and U.S. 301 South.
Authorities said the Silver Alert was issued when Lowery, who suffered a cognitive impairment, failed to return home.
The cause of death was not given. The body will be sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Raleigh for an autopsy.
