JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A Marine spokesman says investigators are looking into the sinking of a Marine Assault Amphibious Vehicle in the New River earlier this week.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reports (http://bit.ly/XLE2vDSJ ) that 2nd Lt. Adam Flores with 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune confirmed the sinking.

The vehicle has a crew of at least three. There were no reported injuries in the Tuesday incident.

The Marines would not say where the vehicle sank or whether it had been recovered because of the ongoing investigation.

The 29-ton vehicle is used by the Marines to land troops and equipment during amphibious operations.
