NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.  — A North Carolina woman who was reported missing by her husband over the weekend was scheduled to appear in court Monday on a habitual felon charge.

A police report says 42-year-old Amy Arrington of Lowell, North Carolina, which is about 15 miles west of Charlotte, was last seen about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Her husband, Paul David Arrington, told a lifeguard that he last saw his wife walking into the ocean. He was going to join her about 20 minutes later, but he says she vanished. He reported her missing to a lifeguard.

Media reports in both states say Amy Arrington was supposed to appear in a Mecklenburg County courtroom Monday to face identity theft and forgery charges. A judge issued a warrant for her arrest.

A similar event happened in VA

Many years ago, while living in VA, a similar incident occurred in Newport News, wherein a man reported his son lost in a boating accident the day before a court appearance. Years later, he was found living in Las Vegas, and both he and his dad went to prison. I hope Ms. Arrington has simply pulled a similar 'disappearing act', and not committed the 'ultimate sacrifice.'
