WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — A man is fighting the $20 ticket he received for parking in the spot reserved for Wilmington's mayor on the day the mayor was being sworn in for another term.
Matt Werner told The StarNews of Wilmington (http://bit.ly/1fuZTTu ) he knew he was parking in the mayor's spot outside City Hall on Dec. 3, but it was after business hours. Werner says he is appealing the ticket because the parking spot was not clearly marked as being reserved 24 hours a day.
The City Council was meeting that night and a staff member told a police officer someone was in the mayor's spot. The officer wrote the ticket.
Mayor Bill Saffo says he parked somewhere else and wasn't upset.
