JACKSONVILLE — An Onslow County man has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and other charges in the drunken driving deaths of two passengers in his car last year.
Authorities say 49-year-old Jerry Jackson and 24-year-old Kevin Embler died when they were thrown from a car driven by 28-year-old Christopher Curtis Cash Jr., in January, 2012.
The verdict was returned Monday following a weeklong trial.
The jury found Cash guilty of two counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and two counts of felonious hit and run.
Cash was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison but gets credit for the 13 months he was in jail awaiting trial. Cash's attorney says he will appeal.
