RALEIGH — A federal judge has sentenced a Goldsboro man to 176 years in prison for his part in a series of robberies in eastern North Carolina.
The U.S. Attorney's office said Wednesday that 30-year-old Domonic Devarrise Usher was also ordered to pay nearly $14,000 in restitution.
Usher was found guilty in July on charges stemming from the robbery of stores in Goldsboro, Pikeville and Wilson. Prosecutors said he and five other men robbed the businesses between November 2009 and March 2010.
Evidence showed the men entered the stores wearing bandanas, gloves, toboggans and dark clothes. One of them would point a gun at the clerk while the other seized the cash drawer from the register or take cash from the store safe.
The other five men also have been sentenced.
