NEW BERN, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina woman is heading to federal prison for her role in a nearly $2.2 million Medicaid fraud scheme.

Prosecutors announced Thursday that Andetra Michelle Sampson was sentenced to 5 years confinement followed by 3 years of supervised release.

The 39-year-old Lumberton woman pleaded guilty last year to filing false billings to the Medicaid program for mental health services to children that were never provided. Sampson was the principal owner and manager for Country Layne Day Treatment, located in Pembroke.

Following her arrest, authorities seized $300,000 in property Sampson purchased with the proceeds of the fraud, including what authorities described as a "fleet" of recreational vehicles and rare custom motorcycles.
