WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Southeastern North Carolina is about to see twin brothers decide how to prosecute criminals in the Wilmington area.
The StarNews of Wilmington reported Wednesday that Jon David next week takes over as district attorney for Brunswick, Columbus and Bladen counties. Ben David remains district attorney for New Hanover and Pender counties.
The new DA is a Republican. His brother the incumbent DA is a Democrat.
The brothers also went to different colleges and law schools. Incoming DA Jon David was always focused on criminal law, while his brother Ben started out studying medicine and working as a civil lawyer in Winston-Salem before becoming a public servant.
Ben David says the twin prosecutors are close but aren't aiming to consolidate power into a dynasty.
