GIBSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A 30-year-old woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death last month of an Alamance County convenience store owner.
Gibsonville Police said Takila Morris was arrested Friday night.
Authorities say Morris went into Ken's Quickie Mart on July 20 to rob the store. Investigators say she got into a struggle with 61-year-old owner Paresh Shah, and Shah was shot three times.
Morris' mother told The Times-News of Burlington (http://bit.ly/1551tEc) that her daughter couldn't have been the killer because she was so drunk that night she couldn't walk. She says Morris had to go to the hospital because she fell trying to climb some stairs.
Morris is being held in jail without bond.
