Dell announces new computers

Dell engineers showed off a redesigned line of Latitude and Precision laptops today.

Some of the highlights of the business computers, the company says, include a 2.2-pound model, a stretched battery life of up to 19 hours and lots of color options, including Mica-Brushed Metal, Regatta Blue, Regal Red, Quartz Pink Matte Black.

Something else new: Dell previewed something it calls “Dell Latitude ON.” The company says it allows users “near-instant” access to e-mail, calendar, attachments, contacts and the Internet - all without booting up the main operating system. Latitude ON, which will be available on Latitude E4200 and E4300, makes use of a low-voltage sub-processor. It should be available in the coming months, Dell says.

Before all you Dell haters get in a huff, these are not for consumers. Their Latitudes and Precisions are for business/government/corporate customers.

Wow, they accomplished this redesign in one day, today? Or, did they just announce it today? Anyone proofreading your articles?

Randall - That’s not 100% accurate. WHile the systems are geared toward business/corporate usage, you do not have to be a business entity to purchase one. They are available to anyone.

Who cares who the computers are built for!!! I am just sick of hearing about Dell coming out with this and that! I am sick of Dell computers! I have had 3 and 2 didn’t last long. I am going back to HP! With Dell continuing to outsource their American jobs to that sorry excuse of a sewer known as India, I am going back to HP. All I get when I call tech support or chat with them is some dumb idiot from India that can’t speak plain English. UGH! I have never had an Apple computer. I might consider it. Oh and Souaman, I see your point after rereading the article. Dell must have some superfast and superintelligent engineers to accomplish that in one day! Ha!

If you don’t think that HP outsources it’s service support, think again. I have an HP printer and yes, my calls go to India. With Apple, you can go into the store and talk with someone face to face. They will not ask for a credit card before you ask a question. The service is outstanding!!! And their online support and phone support are rated the best. Far above any other pc manufacturer.

too bad the original launch of this product was scheduled MONTHS ago and yet everyone in the place is so jacked up that the launch kept getting delayed. seriously, who cares. Like every other dell product, this one will be a P.O.S!

If American companies could afford to keep jobs here they would. Our salary requirements are too expensive and we want everything on the cheap. You should travel to that sewer of India, Mr/Mrs. S.
