Deer hunting with dogs on the run

We’ve gotten quite a bit of feedback about our story on a petition drive in Pasquotank County to make it illegal to both hunt on posted land and allow hunting dogs to trespass on private property without the owner’s written permission. Some residents and property owners, wanting to protect property rights, are sympathetic to the cause. On the other side, many hunters who use dogs in their sport don’t agree or would like to find a compromise. What are your thoughts?

The only solution I can envision is the hunters purchase their own land to hunt on. Whether it is individually or collectively through a club they must take the responsibility upon themselves. Some people like to see the deer on their property. A hunter has no right allowing a dog to go on someone else’s property and run a deer off of it. I am not opposed to hunters but they are selfish and irresponsible in putting their own enjoyment of a hobby over private property rights of another.
