Barry stupid thing to say
Yogi Berra was famous for saying things that are on the surface very dumb, but were actually quite funny and sometimes insightful. Barry Bonds, on the other hand, is neither funny or insightful in his latest statment about asterisks in baseball.
“I don’t think you can put an asterisk in the game of baseball, and I don’t think that the Hall of Fame can accept an asterisk,” Bonds told Associated Press writer Mike Fitzpatrick. “You cannot give people the freedom, the right to alter history. You can’t do it. There’s no such thing as an asterisk in baseball.”
Apparently, Bonds has never heard of Roger Maris. Or maybe there are other reasons he doesn’t acknowledge the asterisk that hung over 61 until Mark McGwire broke the mark.
As far as history, that is for the people to judge, not you, Barry. I’m sure that Bush would like to believe certain things about his presidency that the public as a whole do not agree with. The same goes for your place in history.
The Hall of Fame has already accepted the fact that there is an asterisk branded on the ball. Now its time for Barry to accept that the asterisk has been stamped on his career.
