The Board of Commissioners will host a Town Meeting starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Moyock Middle School to discuss the U.S. Navy’s proposed Outlying Landing Field in northeastern North Carolina. The meeting is open to all Currituck residents and visitors and those attending will have the opportunity to comment.
Currituck commissioners and other county officials will be present to discuss the Navy’s proposed OLF at the Hales Lake area of neighboring Camden County and how it could affect Currituck residents.
The Navy plans to perform an Environmental Impact Statement to determine the affects an OLF could have on the Hales Lake site. The EIS is expected to take about 30 months to complete, according to the Navy.
