With 120 yards of penalties, Edenton almost negated as many yards as leading rusher Jamez Moore posted Friday night.

After its last public library closed in 1957, the ribbon was finally cut and the doors opened on a brand new Moyock Public Library on Wednesday afternoon.

A proposed YMCA in the Maple area will cost the county $12 million and open no later than December 2011, if not sooner, Currituck County officials said Monday.

Of course, deer is in season and bear season starts soon, but seasons for some small game have already begun as well.

Area school districts pass out hundreds of report cards every year, but on Thursday, the tables were turned.

County balks at $92K hydrant plan

Pasquotank County officials have derided as “crazy” and “capricious” a state Insurance Department ruling that the Weeksville area needs 31 more fire hydrants — at a cost of $92,400 — before homeowners can qualify for lower fire insurance rates.
