Gilchrist: Drill exposes need for more personnel

An emergency drill at Elizabeth City State University on Friday led to the “capture” of three “shooters,” one “fatality,” and a host of lessons regarding the campus’s emergency preparedness, Chancellor Willie Gilchrist said.

Man charged with murder

A Pasquotank County man has been charged with murder in the March 12 shooting death of a Maryland man, according to the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Department.

Charles Merton Shunstrom Jr., 47, of Emerson Street in Bladensburg, Md., died of a gunshot wound to the head, Pasquotank County Sheriff Randy Cartwright said Friday.
