MAPLE — Enter the Currituck County Animal Shelter and the first thing one sees is the overflow of kittens. The furry mix of black and white, orange, and tortoise-shell kittens, all in stacked cages, almost detracts from the cramped quarters. This one room serves as a kitten overflow area, office, lobby, classroom, and even clinic, unless workers decide to use the laundry room instead.
