8-10 days a year backups occur.

Fix the intersection! Split the east bound lanes with a flyover and reduce the number of stoplights near Kitty Hawk and Duck. No tax money to the bridge.

clean up the bottle neck at the turn to Rt. 12 North

Short term, a cop should be there directing traffic on changeover days, and long term, a flyover is needed at that intersection! Tourism departments & rental companies need to encourage vacationers to carpool as much as possible to cut down on the number of cars on the road. Besides, many of the older vacation homes don't have room to park all those cars & neither do the shops & restaurants. BTW totally unprofessional comment by the newly retired Tourism Director! It should also be noted that the writer is a Currituck mainlander blockaded on the weekend! Mainlanders fail to realize that those of us who live on the beach are blockaded on the weekend AND every rainy day!

I wonder if staggering

I wonder if staggering cottage rentals would make a difference? And the mid county bridge would of made a difference as that would take out a bunch of people that would head north. But that is off the table now.
