The vacant chancellor’s job at Elizabeth City State University is already drawing applicants, including a couple of former university presidents, the committee searching for ECSU’s next leader learned last week.

We both know it is illegal to use race as a hiring determinant. Does anyone really think that will be the case in this situation?

Even though

ECSU is a predominantly black unviversity, I hope race will not be a determining factor for the job.
