Municipal election candidates will answer questions and discuss issues facing Elizabeth City during an election forum sponsored by The Daily Advance on Sept. 17.
The public is invited.
All candidates, contested and uncontested, who are seeking seats on city council and the mayor’s post in the Oct. 8 municipal election have been invited to the forum.
The forum will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the second-floor courtroom in the Pasquotank County Courthouse.
The format of the forum will include introductions and opening statements by the candidates, a moderated question-and-answer session and an opportunity for the audience to submit questions for candidates.
Candidates running in this year’s municipal city election include (i-incumbent):
Mayor — Joseph Peel (i) and Johnnie Walton;
Fourth Ward — Joynell Collins-Robinson, Linwood Gallop, Lena Hill-Lawrence (i), Darius Horton, Montravias King, Jackie Latson and Volanda Watts;
Third Ward — Michael Brooks (i), Rickey E. King and Kem Spence (i);
Second Ward — Albert Butts III, Anita Hummer (i) and Tony Stimatz (i);
First Ward — Jean Baker (i) and Ray Donnelly (i).
