Let me get this straight. Young men keeping their pants above their waist is an important image issue for Elizabeth City. Now that I have gotten off the floor, it sounds like our law enforcement will becoming the fashion police. The image of Elizabeth City begins with the community leaders. I'm not only referring to the city government, but other community leaders as well. I agree with Mr. Brooks, it is a parent involvement issue with how their children conduct themselves and dress. The court system is already over tax to have to deal with "Pants on the Ground". Mr. Walton, hope isn't the reason for sagging pants, it the image that they want to portray. It is a style for them. You know, gangsta!

A discussion of council treating each other with respect will all go out the window the next time council meets and tries to elect a pro-tem. It will be the same 4-4 tie with one side trying to have a compromise and the other not wanting any compromise. We will have a pro-tem when one of the councilors misses. And don't make an issue if you choice loses. I seem to recall recently one was elected after 3-4 months of ties when one of the council member misses. Wonder who will blink first?
