Selective free speech
TDA, like all other liberal media, is a stanch believer and defender of free speech. One catch of this is, the free speech has to be what THEY want it to say. It's quite amusing that TDA's catch phrase, "Dare to speak, write, the truth" is a notable quote of one of our past U.S. presidents. I guess one doesn't have to walk the walk, just talk the talk. Censorship at its best.
Word it anyway you like
It still boils down to race and ratios. Field a qualified candidate and the racial ethnicity issue goes away. Voters will elect an individual of good character and morals. To manipulate voter district lines to assure an ethnic victory only diminishes the character and credibility of that candidate and continues to promotes negative racist idealism.
If my memory serves me correctly, past County Commissioner, Mr. Witherspoon, was elected by an overwhelming majority, and continued to garner those votes for the duration of his political career. He was a man of good character and moral fiber. He represented the citizens of this county well and was both fair and equal in all respects.
Once again, field a person of his caliber and race instantly becomes a non-issue.
PS- I once thought Perry fits this description, but alas, the racist persona has emerged with all its ugliness.
