A large gathering of dog hunters created “dangerous” traffic conditions on U.S. Highway 158 in northern Pasquotank County on Saturday, a state wildlife officer said.

Complaints about dog hunters
I completely understand that the unknown is not an understood concept. What I mean by this is when you do not personally know about a subject, hobby, etc. you tend to assume how it should be. BUT, unless you are the hunter in this situation, you don't understand. I have encountered many dog owners in many different places. Some have complied with the rules and some have not. I pick my child up from a daycare in the city limits and I have been chased by a dog, I have stepped in dog poop, I have had cats on my car. I believe that all of which is against the laws of owning a pet. However, I know that some people do not follow the law and you cannot control cats jumping on my car. I am not standing in the yard flipping people off or going to the city council to complain that ALL pet owners are violators or we need to do away with owning pets. Now lets get to the part about people on "your" land. What happened to this country????? Everything is all about "my". What about helping people and understanding people. These hunts are usually known as benefit hunts. Oh, but that part wasn't mentioned to the city council. These men take their time and money to raise money for sick human beings and special events. Think about if everyone would help each other, we could make these hunts even more beneficial and prosperous. You will always have a few people to mess up and not follow the law, but stop stereotyping and help the bigger group who is doing this for a good cause. I am 100% sure the cause was not to upset anyone but to raise money for a needy cause. We as a society need to stop trying to go against one another and try to ask questions to understand each other and help! We let emotions run high and when that happens we don't think clearly. I would much rather that law enforcement spend their time on catching the people who are killing people and who are selling drugs to our kids. Have you ever stopped to think this hobby may keep our young boys off the streets and off of the computers and video games. I am proud to say I come from generations of hunters. I have 2 boys that I will fully support them hunting with their father! When this country was founded, hunting was how people had food to eat. Now we want to take this tradition away because people who don't believe in it are inconvenienced because someone was on their land. I teach school and I see how many young minds are hurt because all imagination is taken away with tv, video games, and computers. Not to mention there few who actually have family time. So many have the above mentioned items as their babysitter so mom and dad can do as they please. Stop and think about the whole picture. I will leave you with this, I saw a quote one day and it made me think. I hope everyone reads this and thinks about what it really means. "I would rather be hunting with my son than hunting for my son" Holly Winslow
Bravo!!!!
Very well stated!
As long as,'the good ole
As long as,'the good ole boy's' have their way in this state, and they do, this sort of incident will be repeated until the sun burns out. Perhaps a no trespassing sign like the ones I've seen over in the Commnwealth of Virginia might be the answer. The signs read, "This is private property. Absolutely no trespassing. Violators will be shot; survivor's will be prosecuted."
Trespassing is trespassing
This is plain and simple. The hunters gather on a piece of land with permission, ok fine. but this land is boarded by other property owners that have posted their land. The hunters, being the considerate individuals they aren't don't bother to inform the land owners that their dogs may find their way on to the posted land. If the hunters can not control their dogs, then maybe it is the hunters that need training and a shock collar. As for the county commissioners.....they are fools. Their PRIMARY job is to look out for the rights of the voting public. 70% of the hunters that gather at this event were from other counties where citizens rights are upheld. the Sheriff is just a bad. The law is the law, period. If he is beyond enforcing it, then maybe we should look elsewhere for protection. trespassing is trespassing.
THE EVENT WAS NOT ON THEIR
THE EVENT WAS NOT ON THEIR PROPERTY! THE DOGS CAN'T READ TO KNOW THEY ARE TRESPASSING! DOGS ARE LIKE CHILDREN THEY WILL RUN FROM YARD TO YARD. ONCE AGAIN ...IT IS A CONTROL ISSUE! IT'S SIMPLY NOT OK BECAUSE NO ONE ASKED. THEY HOPE THE DOGS NOT NOT STRAY OUT OF THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE RELEASED BUT THAT DOES HAPPEN.
dogs
DOES ANYONE EVER SEE THE POSITIVE THINGS THESE DOG HUNTERS DO? MANY OF THESE FIELD TRIALS ARE BENEFITS TO HELP SICK PEOPLE, SPECIAL OLYMPICS, AND OTHERS IN THE COMMUNITY. MOST OF THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT HUNTERS OR HAVE DOGS. THEY ARE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME ...THEY NEED HELP! THEY DON'T GIVE A FEW DOLLARS...THEY GIVE THOUSANDS.IT IS A LOT OF WORK TO THESE EVENTS AND THE TIME IS ALL DONATED...NO ONE IS PAID.. BIG DEAL!!! DOGS WERE ON YOUR LAND AND THE PEOPLE WENT TO GET THEM. I LIVE IN CAMDEN. I DO NOT HAVE DOGS NOR DO I HUNT BUT MANY WEEKS I CATCH A DOG FOR A HUNTER, CALL THE NUMBER ON THE DOG COLLAR AND THE HUNTER PICKS THEM UP AND IS VERY THANKFUL. THESE DOGS ARE HARMLESS. I DO THIS SO THE DOG IS NOT HIT BY CARS ON THE ROAD.IF A DOG RUNS ON YOUR PROPERTY THEY REALLY DON'T HAVE TIME TO LOOK FOR YOU AND ASK CAN THEY GET THEIR DOG! I THINK IT IS MORE OF A CONTROL ISSUE AND CHILDISH(DON'T STEP ACROSS THE LINE..YOU ARE ON MY TURF). THERE ARE A LOT MORE PROBLEMS GOING ON IN SOCIETY TODAY THAN WORRYING ABOUT A DOG RUNNING ACROSS YOUR LAND. GROW UP! GO TO A FIELD TRIAL ONE DAY AND SEE WHAT GOES ON...YOU TO MAY NEED HELP ONE DAY!!!
Permission
When an event is going to be held on someone elses property the NORMAL course of action would be to ask permission and they didn't ask they just showed up. that would be the same as you waking up at 2 a.m. with a large crowd people in your back yard having a party without having asked permission.
No Support There
A majority of the commissioners do not believe in the rights of property owners to control who may hunt on their land. This majority are afraid of the hunters for some reason. I know that if I can't trust them to protect private property rights I can't trust them to fairly govern or protect private or public resources.
