K-9 fundraiser this Thursday
Tuesday, April 22, 2008
Whether you like police dogs, or just enjoy an evening out, a group raising money for the purchase of an additional Elizabeth City K-9 police officer wants your support for a benefit party that's sure to be doggone fun.
Jim and Bonnie Stewart, owners of the Culpepper Inn, have donated the space of their large inn on historic Main Street; folks like Pat Franzese and Joan Ellis have been rallying the troops for this event, happening Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 per guest and that money goes to a fund that will, says Joan Ellis, soon assist with the purchase of a third Elizabeth City police dog.

The event will include heavy hors-d'oeuvres, including steampship round, apricot chicken, chocolate strawberries and drink tickets.
There will also be an Elizabeth City Police Department K-9 team demonstration. Police dogs Buck and Ciro will be on hand with their handlers, officers Gary Kight and Glen Needham.
The team will demonstrate apprehension and drug enforcement techniques. The demonstration is therefore dependent on the weather.
Tickets are available at Carolina House, Selig's, Page After Page or Toys Etc. For information contact Joan Ellis at 335-0620.
