A Virginia man suffered several broken bones when the motorcycle he was driving struck a passenger car in Currituck County Sunday afternoon.
Ivan Histand, 41, of 4944 Fletcher Road, Gloucester, Va., was seriously injured when his 2003 BMW motorcycle ran into the back of a 2007 Chrysler at the intersection of Tulls Creek Road and N.C. Highway 168 about 5:10 p.m. Sunday, State Highway Patrol Trooper T.C. White said.
Histand was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by Nightingale air ambulance. Also, four children who were passengers in the Chrysler were taken to Chesapeake General by EMS transport and treated for minor injuries, White said.
Three adults were in the Chrysler, including the driver, Donald L. Black, 51, of 6109 20th Ave., Hyattsville, Md., according to White.
Histand was traveling north on N.C. 168 when the accident occurred. White said Histand's injuries were not life-threatening, and consisted of at least a broken leg and a broken arm.
Histand was charged with failure to reduce speed, according to the accident report. No alcohol or drug test was administered.
