EC motorcyclist killed in Chesapeake

Wednesday, July 02, 2008

An Elizabeth City man was killed in Chesapeake, Va., Friday after his motorcycle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, a spokesman for the Chesapeake Police Department said.

Robert L. Hood Jr., 61, of the 1100 block of Main St., Elizabeth City, was traveling west on the 1600 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, Chesapeake, about 6 p.m. when his motorcycle went off the road and struck the pole, police officer Gus Mojica said.

Hood was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Mojica said it isn't known why Hood's 2007 Honda motorcycle left the roadway. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and alcohol was not a factor, Mojica said.
